Paul Smart spent his early pre-journalism days organizing the Independent Feature Project's annual markets in New York City in the mid-1980s, then moved on to work at producing films by Eagle Pennell and Alexandre Rockwell. After moving to Mexico in 2021, Smart started developing short films in addition to his epic feature, Don Barry. Here are two currently making their way through the global festival world.
